Privilege

What a privilege it is to live a life filled with joy and sadness. To wake up in the morning in a comfortable bed under warm blankets in a room that protects you from the elements.

What a privilege it is to have responsibilities that force you out of bed, to have a job to tend to, a source of income to navigate through the journey of life.

What a privilege it is to have a functioning body, limbs that allow you to run, lift, and hug those you love most. 37 trillion cells, 206 bones, 600 muscles, 90 miles of nerves, 60,000 miles of veins, 12 pints of blood, and 86 billion neurons in the brain that make you uniquely you.

What a privilege it is to have a device to access this post, a meal to eat, and another day to experience life.

What a privilege it is to exist as you.

There will always be people who seem more well-off. There will always be people who look at you with those same lenses.

Don’t be blinded by the perception of comparison.

A wealthy human with a poor soul lives an unfulfilling life, yet a rich soul has a wealth of joy.

Redirect the energy we waste on comparison toward the blessings already present in our daily lives, as there is always something to be grateful for.

Embrace the difficulties in life with the perspective that there is someone in the world longing to have the opportunities you have.

Focus on your health, your mind, and your soul. For once you invest in your life, you will find your peace.

What a privilege it is to live.
