The only barrier between the life you want and the life you’re living is the action you’re choosing to avoid that would bring you a step closer to your goal.
Everything you do has its own consequences - some heavier than others. From doomscrolling online to consuming unhealthy foods to avoiding difficult conversations, they all take away the time, energy, and discipline that instead would have allowed you to work toward the life you want to live.
And yet we tell ourselves that it’s because of external factors beyond our control.
There is little in this life you can't work toward, as long as you maintain the discipline and drive to keep going. I’m not saying that these things will come overnight. And I’m not saying that this will be a straight path forward. You will face setbacks, you will deal with pain, sadness, and suffering. It’s at those pivotal moments where people are separated - those that power through and continue toward making their goals a reality, and those that give it all up and are left dreaming of a better life.
What matters is that you do something. Even if it feels like the most minuscule action, it will grow as long as you remain disciplined. Stop doomscrolling, absorbing content from others around the world and instead experience your own life and make your own. Think of the guilt that’ll consume you after having something you shouldn’t, and instead switch to a better alternative that provides your body, mind and soul what it truly needs. Spark the difficult conversation and understand that there will be discomfort, but know that it is better to deal with an hour of intense pain instead of a life of suppressed discomfort.
Inspire others, and remember that a fulfilled life is one you actually wanted.
Until you take the next step toward achieving the life you want to live, and until you are disciplined about it, there is no one to blame but yourself. Not your friends, not your family, not your environment, not your job, not your past and not your future- the only one responsible for the life you dream of is you in this very moment.
So what now?
